Presents

WATER AND SEWER RATE SETTING WORKSHOP

August 27, 2008
LEXINGTON TOWN HALL
LEXINGTON, SC

Great service, well trained staff, strong maintenance, timely capital improvements using good technologies – all are important.  None of these will happen over the long haul if cities and rural water districts don’t fund their utilities well.  There is nothing more important we can do for our utilities than fund them properly, i.e.: getting and keeping rates and fees at the right level and rate and fee hikes.

Rate analysis is a method of examining your existing rates and financial position, including future capital improvements, and setting new rates that will generate the cash you need while being fair to your customers.  True rate analysis is something that smaller systems just don’t do – but need to!  When you examine existing rates you gain the tool to establish a strong foundation for long-term financial success.

What Will We learn About?

Rate Analysis:

v          The basic rate analysis process

v          Rate analysis techniques that can only be taught using a live, on-screen rate analysis demonstration

v          Rate analysis and rate adjustment “selling” techniques

Who Should Attend?

v         Decision Makers—Mayor or Council Members, Rural Water District Board Members, City Clerks or Administrative Staff.

v          Managers—Public Works Directors, RWD Managers or Operators.

v        Finance Personnel—City of RWD Managers, Finance Directors, Clerks or Office Staff

v          Engineers—Engineering Firms or other professionals.
