The academic years gave Patrick different employment experiences. He became a Resident Advisor as a sophomore and was promoted to Resident Director for his final two years. Patrick received a B.Sc. in Biology from Wofford College in May of 1997.

After graduation, Patrick returned to Laurens CPW but this time he was employed at the Water Treatment Plant. It was here he earned his Class B Water Treatment License, became certified in Cross Connection and Backflow Prevention, and was exposed to diverse mechanical and operational problems.

In August of 1998 Patrick chose to expand his knowledge of water systems by becoming an employee of SJWD Water District in Lyman, South Carolina. While at SJWD, he received a Class C Distribution Operator certification while working on the line maintenance, tap and leak crews. He received a Class A Water Treatment License, operated and maintained the Water Treatment Plant. Patrick was involved with the collection and analyses of source water, water treatment and distribution samples. SJWD welcomed his input on many projects and committees including Qualserve, Partnership for Safe Water, GIS and Source Water Protection.

Patrick Jackson became South Carolina Rural Water Association's Water Circuit Rider #2 on January 3, 2000.

Kevin Simpson joins South Carolina Rural Water Association from Starr-Iva Water Company where for the last 10 years he has served as Assistant Manager. Kevin has accepted the Water Circuit Rider position formerly filled by Bill "Cuz" Miles. Please welcome Kevin as he makes his introductions to you in the coming months.

Kevin is an “A” licensed Water Distribution operator that comes to us from the Charleston Water System. He possesses an ASc in Civil Engineering Technology and a BS in Business Management. His 27 years of experience in the water industry range from meter reading to the Technical Support Manager in Water Distribution. Kevin’s practical knowledge incorporates both PM and O&M programs with an emphasis on water quality and capital improvement projects. He was instrumental in implementing a comprehensive unidirectional flushing program and was involved in the utility becoming the 1st public water & waste water utility in the nation to earn certification under ISO 14001.

Kelly Pitts is the Membership Services Coordinator for SCRWA. She began working with SCRWA in June 2002 as an Administrative Assistant after moving back to her hometown of Clinton. Kelly is married to Frank Pitts and has 3 step-children, has a 2-yr degree and has completed numerous seminars and courses. Kelly maintains the Membership informational database for SCRWA as well as publishes the quarterly magazine "Water is Life", a bi-monthly electronic newsletter called "Clear eNews" and our Annual Membership Directory. Kelly also organizes the conference events and training classes for SCRWA. She is an active supporter of National Rural Water Association.
